Moving past the fact that I've been doing advertising work for over 28 years, this resumé gives you insight into the fully-rounded nature of my experience. I've been described as a "Renaissance Man" given that my experience ranges from photography and graphic design to landscaping and restaurant work. I'm proud of all the jobs I've done. I always apply myself 100% to every job – no matter how easy or difficult – and pride myself as not being 'above' any kind of work. • Focusing on a niche market within the LGBT niche market – those aged 35–55 in the Silicon Valley and Peninsula areas, created a product that met their interests and delivered results for advertisers ranging from pharmaceuticals to restaurants, realtors to health care providers.
• Increased distribution by 54% through targeted direct mail and newsstand distribution points.
• Managed staff in a team-based environment of 12 to 15 people in editorial, art production, distribution, ad trafficking, advertising sales and bookkeeping.

Eulipia Restaurant – San Jose, CA 1991-1993 Bartender, Waiter, Marketing Director. Started as daytime bartender in charge of  full bar including espresso bar; became one of their leading waiters; promoted to marketing director in charge of all promotions and events.

Gardener/Landscaper/Hauling Business – San Jose, CA 1988-1991 Self-employed as a landscaper/gardener drawing on my personal enjoyment of plants and gardening. Self-employed with hauling business working for individual home owners and renters.

Sun Newseekly – Santa Cruz, CA 1986-1988 Marketing Director/Sales Manager. Managed staff of four advertising salespeople and coordinated marketing efforts for this start-up newsweekly. Approached newsweekly as a whole product encompassing editorial, design, marketing and distribution. Successfully created direct distribution to homes within political demographic of publication by sorting precinct voter registration records. Left position to return to college.

Good Times Newsweekly – Santa Cruz, CA 1984-1986 Marketing Director/Sales Manager, Advertising Campaign Development, New Publication Director/Creator. Managed staff of 5 to 12 advertising sales representatives and administrative staff in team-based approach to sales. Developed advertising campaigns for individual clients ranging from auto dealerships to restaurants. Coordinated marketing of Good Times Newsweekly product through print media and direct mail focusing on our low cost per thousand rates and excellent upwardly--mobile reader demographic. Developed special sections such as “The Best of Santa Cruz”, “Good Times Auto Edition” and “Good Times Business Edition” to buttress sales during traditionally slower advertising revenue periods. Achieved a growth rate of 27% for this eleven year-old newsweekly.

Los Gatos Weekly – Los Gatos, CA 1982-1984 Advertising Sales, Advertising Campaign/Budget Development. Developed product advertising campaigns for clients as diverse as houseware stores to jewelers. Sold advertising based on campaign development for clients as diverse as Hearst Cablevision, Cornish & Carey Real Estate, Villa Felice Restaurant, etc.. Became lead salesperson after just three months on the job.
